Celebrating the Edinburgh Chinese Autumn Festival

Celebrating the Edinburgh Chinese Autumn Festival

The Edinburgh Chinese Autumn Festival (ECAF) was held at St. Andrews Square, New Town, from 10th to 12th October, and attracted hundreds of local people to join in to celebrate the traditional  Moon festival.

It was organised by the Edinburgh Chinese Culture Association (ECCA) with the theme of golden autumn and the Moon Festival, aiming to showcase the richness of Chinese traditional culture and how Chinese celebrate the harvest season. A big Marquee was set up in the centre of the St Andrew Square Garden. Many visitors enjoyed traditional Chinese music, dance performances, as well as craft stalls, which was very popular for children.

The students from Fettes College and Perth High School performed ancient poem reading in Mandarin. Most of the performances are from the Chinese communities in Edinburgh. Traditional oriental food, grocery and crafts stalls are dotted in St Andrew Square garden, provide authentic Asian food and some unique crafts.

This was the first time that a China theme event was held in the centre of Edinburgh. In these three days events, it attracted thousands of people.
